Barnard 142 and Barnard 143 - dark nebulae in Aquila

The "Barnard's E" Nebula is a pair of dark nebulae in the constellation Aquila. The official designations of the nebulae are Barnard 142 (or LDN 688) and Barnard 143 (LDN 674). It is a well-defined dark area on a background of Milky Way consisting of countless stars of all magnitudes. Its size is about 0.5 degrees, and its distance from Earth is estimated at about 2,000 light years.
