The comet C/2016 U1 (NEOWISE) was discovered on October 21, 2016 by Discoverer Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE). Its orbit is hyperbolic with an eccentricity of 1.0009, thus C/2016 U1, after crossing its perihelion on January 14zh 2017, will leave the Solar System. This image shows the comet on December 9th 2016 at 01:30 UT.
