The comet C/2020 M3 (ATLAS) was discovered on June 27th 2020 by Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) search program. At the time of discovery the comet had 18.8 mag. This image shows the comet on November 16th at 21:30 UT. The reddish color at the righ is due to the presence of Sharpless 264, (also known as the Lambda Orionis Nebula), a molecular cloud and H II region. The bluish light at upper right is coming from Bellatrix (γ Orionis, Gamma Ori or γ Ori) - a 1.6 mag. star from spectral class B2.Clearly visible are two tails of the comet.
