NGC 3351 is a barred spiral galaxy located about 9.93 Mpc (32.4 Mly) away towards the constellation Leo. The galaxy has a morphological classification of SB(r)b with the SBb notation indicating it is a barred spiral and an (r) meaning an inner ring surrounds the bar (Buta et al.,2007). NGC 3351 has an inclination towards our line of sight of 41 degrees (Muraoka et al., 2019).

The galaxy has an oval envelop of low-surface brightness features it with the diameter of 11.7 arcmin corresponding to physical diameter of 33.8 Kpc (Rich et al., 2019). Lots of studies concern low-surface brightness features around galaxies. Why low-surface brightness features are so important? Primarily because the predictions are robust: they rely on the assumption that structure formation is hierarchical down to small scales - one of the fundamental predictions of cold dark matter cosmologies. The galaxy-size dark matter halos should be built by the steady accretion of smaller, dwarf-size dark matter clumps (e.g. Cole et al. 2000; Stewart et al. 2008; Fakhouri et al. 2010).
