Following the program VdB Catalogue (providing imaging of all VdB objects), this image was centered on VdB 27 (catalogued also Magakian 65, Bernes 73 or Ced 31) - a small reflection nebula in the constellation Taurus. The nebula is illuminated by the radiation of the variable star RY Tauri, a T Tauri star (so very young) with a very high rotational speed. At the left bottom can be seen the much more prominent LBN 782 (or Ced 30). A few Barnard's dark nebulae also can be spotted here (please see the annotated mouseover).
