VdB 3 is a small reflection nebula visible in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is situated near the border with the constellation Cepheus, about one degree to the northeast of the nebulous complex NGC 7822. The star that illuminates the cloud is an orange giant of magnitude 8.4, cataloged as HD 3037, whose light gives an orange color to the dust . The system is placed within the Orion Arm at a distance of just under 600 parsecs, and is located on the edge of a very rich star field background, while at few arcminutes to the west there are some dark regions without any catalog designation.
