VdB 54 is a reflection nebula visible in the constellation Orion. It is a small gaseous envelope that completely hides a young star, cataloged as BD-06 1287, probably located within the giant cloud LDN 1641, in its eastern part. For the star has not been determined nor the spectral class, nor the parallax. The nebula LDN 1641 is part of the giant Orion molecular cloud A, the same that also includes the Orion Nebula and many other nebulous clouds of Orion molecular complex, one of the best observable star-forming areas in the entire sky.
